Patient Participation Group

We Need Your Help

For many years now we have been trying to get patients more involved in the practice Patient Refernce Group.

Initially 108 patients signed up to be contacted by e-mail unfortunately the response rate was low.

Thank you to all those who do respond.

The message to all patients is that you can make suggestions on what you would like to see happening at the practice.

We need patients who are willing to give up just a little of their time and suggest the format the meeting should take as well as help to organise the service.  Without your help we cannot have a Reference Group

WASTE MEDICINES

Parkview Medical Centre is supporting the Waste Medicines Campaign

It is important that all our patients and their friends and family know that millions of pounds are wasted every year because patients order medicine that they do not use.
The money wasted could be put to use for lots of reasons we all think are really important these include:

  • MORE NURSING STAFF
  • MORE DRUG TREATMENT FOR CANCER
  • MORE HIP OPERATIONS
  • MORE CATARACT OPERATIONS

If you are ordering medicine you don’t use you should book an appointment to see your doctor or nurse, perhaps it does not help your condition, perhaps it gives you a tummy ache. Some patients do not like to question their doctor about the medcine they are prescribed but you should.

Some patients think it does not cost anything BUT IT DOES. Because lots of patients get medcine free they think it is OK to throw it away. MEDICINE is not free it has to be paid for out of the NHS budget.

Did you know?

  • one inhaler for asthma etc can cost £15 or more
  • one box of testing strips for diabetes costs £15 or more

If we keep wasting medicine there will be less and less money to spend on treatment for those who need it.

PLEASE THINK BEFORE YOU ORDER

BROAD STREET WALK IN CENTRE IS NOW CLOSED

THE NEAREST WALK IN CENTRE IS AT BARKING HOSPITAL.

Barking Hospital provides more services than Broad Street and you may attend there instead of going to A+E in the case of minor injuries etc or when the surgery is closed. There is parking available and it is next door to Upney station.

Please do not confuse this with the other services available there.

The General Practice and other services are still being provided if you have an appointment – you should still attend.

The WALK IN CENTRE is only one of the services that have been located there, its closure does not mean the closure of the building just the one service.
